Travel Sketching Live Version 2025 – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Live Version of Travel Sketching?

A Live Version is a chance to work through the Travel Sketching course with a group of sketchers from around the world. Together we’ll work through the course and keep each other motivated and inspired!

Each week you will be prompted to move on to the next section of the course and there will be 3 bonus livestreams so that you can ask questions in real time and see mini demos related to the weeks content.

When does it start? How long will it go for?

The Live Version will start on Wednesday 16 April 2025. The classroom and content is accessible from the time of purchase, so prior to the start date you might like to work through the Intro lessons.

The course will last for 3 weeks, and the classroom will remain open so that you can return to the lessons and exercises whenever you like.
Each week, a new part of the course will be released following this schedule:

Work through the Introduction section prior to 16 April
Wed  16 April   – Part 1: Lines (1 week)
Wed  23 April  – Part 2: Shapes (1 week)
Wed  30 April  – Part 3: Layers (1 week)

An email will be sent out on Wednesdays at 8pm Sydney, Australia time to let you know that it’s time to move onto the next lesson.

Do I need to travel to do the course?

This course has been designed to teach you techniques for sketching while traveling with others. However, these concepts can be used for sketching in any situation. In fact, I encourage everyone to develop these techniques while out and about in their local area.

What happens after the Live Version finishes?

If you get behind during the 3 week period of the Live Version, you can finish off the lessons at any time.

The classroom will become quieter but there will always be some people working through the lessons. And yes, you have lifetime access so you can come back to the lessons whenever you want as well as join in future Foundations Group Events.

Who is the Travel Sketching Course for?

Travel Sketching is for sketchers of all levels of experience who want to sketch more when they are on the go.

If you are a beginner, this Travel Sketching course will teach you some simple ways of sketching and will introduce you to the most important drawing and observation skills you need to sketch anything. These concepts are expanded in more detail inside my Foundations course, so if you have time now, working through the first few lessons of Foundations will be great preparation. However, you do not need any sketching experience to do Travel Sketching.

If you sketch regularly at home but struggle to sketch when you travel, this course will teach you techniques for sketching on the go or in a spare moment. You’ll develop strategies for simplifying complex scenes into a few lines, shapes, or layers, giving you the confidence to sketch more.

If you are a more experienced sketcher, this Travel Sketching course will show you how to sketch more with less and simply capture the essence of a place. You’ll also learn how to incorporate more dry media into your work.
